Looking for after-life activities -Extremadura is full of agricultural opportunities

Last 15th of September, the team of TRANSFER visited two farms in the province of Badajoz, Extremadura.

The farms have arable land, annual grasses, meadows, pastures, irrigation and herds consisting of cattle, sheep, horses and poultry. During the visit, the team shared their knowledge on the management of organic farming and the different strategies that have been implemented in different demonstration sites of the Crops for better soil project.

The team members have explained to the farmers various facets of past and current management of multi-functional properties. It also showed the possibilities and challenges regarding the sustainability and profitability of organic farming. The team will be in contact in order to open up opportunities to collaborate in new actions after the project closure. Several activities entail optimization of organic waste, conversion to organic farming, schedule a rotation plan among others.
